ARG Habitat wares in own station show as Illegal to VIG and cannot be traded - Explained.

I recently added the Tides of Avarice DLC (to CoH and Split Vendetta DLCs), and have been doing the various ToA plots. I am at the last part of Northriver plot, ready to destroy VIG Leadership station.

In the meantime I decided to improve my various Shipbuilding Sectors and found that I was running low on Habitat supplies. In Family Kritt sector I have a Habitat Supply station creating ARG foodstuff and Medical wares. As medical wares are in low supply I created a new factory next to the main Habitat Supply station just to make medical wares, expecting this station to use the Water, Wheat, Spices and Energy Cells as supplied from the original station.

However, when I set up trading ships to move these wares from the main station to the new one, they kept getting Failed Behaviour on Autotrade. When I tried a manual Trade run I found that the various wares show up as "illegal to Vigor Syndicate" and I can't buy them. This is in a station owned by me, in a sector owned by me with a trade ship owned by me. The messages also say that Trade Rules may prevent this ware be available, so I removced all possible Trade Rules fom the stations an ships involved. Still no luck. Why would Water, Wheat, Spices, Energy, etc., be illegal to VIG??

This is the link to a saved game showing this issue. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cxtHiT ... sp=sharing

Game start was originally as Terran in the CoH DLC. Thee are no mods to the game (pure vanilla).

I have been wondering if it has happened because I chose to side with Northriver and take over VIG sectors but have not yet complered the plot, however I went bsak to a save before choosing Northriver and found the same issue.

To review this issue go to the Family Kritt Sector in the save game, and use any of the trading ships there to try to buy wares at the Habitat Supply station. There is also a similar station in Silent Witness XI which shows the same problem.

AFAIK the illegal wares thing is just a warning for you. Your ships don't inherently mind breaking the law—for instance you can still take the L ship there and make a manual trade for the food rations (or at least I could) from that station despite those also being illegal to VIG.

edit: in fact on load, the medical fab's working vulture is making a trade for a small number of food rations, despite their illegal status.

I also saw one of the medical station's subordinates was buying from your supply station, but the other two would just search for trades without finding any. I could not see any clear distinction between these ships' settings that would lead it to have only one working subordinate. Tried tweaking some settings on the stations like returning things to automatic storage allocation and giving the station credits, and I did notice the one working trader moving some wheat from the supply station. Whether that was due to something I had changed I'm not entirely sure, but the others still seemed to just linger in looking-for-trades mode without finding any.

What was interesting is that I cleared the failed orders, but while I saw the station using only a single trader for several trades, the others didn't actually fail any new orders.

edit 2: I repeated my previous test by setting the wares on both stations to auto-allocate, gave them both credits, and this time assigned the spare(?) vultures to the medical station. It's still making trades for wheat, although this time it briefly used two ships simultaneously, and has since then alternated which ship it uses. It is currently producing wares, but still only issuing new trades (so far for wheat exclusively) very slowly relative to the number of ships it has to work with and the space it has to fill.

This is working as intended for now.

It's food rations, ice and water that VIG declare illegal in VIG sectors (incl RIP sectors which VIG 'police') so that they can hold a monopoly on their trade there and sanction 'smugglers'. Interim resources such as wheat and meat should not be illegal with VIG. I do not believe that medical supplies are illegal there.

The illegal staple wares are marked as such everywhere although the actual trading/scanning problems should only lie in VIG/RIP sectors. You can get the illegal flag dropped anyway if you get over +20 rep with VIG. There have been requests for improvement in the marking of affected food, water and ice such as being shown red (illegal to hold) while in VIG/RIP sectors but only yellow (caution in moving them) everywhere else.

Trading and carrying them outside of VIG/RIP sectors *should* not be an issue as long as your global, station and individual trade ship behaviours and orders are set up appropriately.

Many thanks for your feedback. I have now got trading of the Energy, Water, Spices and Wheat from the Habitat Supply station to the Medical Fab station working, after much playing around with the various ware buy/sell settings in the Habitat Supply station.

There seems to be problem with the "Automatic sell amount" radio setting. If this is set on for a ware then it assigns some arbitrary amount to sell up to, but then there is no sell offer for that ware when you subsequently try to do a manual trade for it in the Habitat Supply factory. Turning off that radio button setting and then setting the amount to sell to "be all but 1" makes that ware available to manual trade again.

To get the traders assigned to the Medical Fab to Autotrade the wares it needs to produce medical supplies i had to set Energy, Water, Spices and Wheat in the Habitat Supply station to each be "sell all but 1", turning off "automatic sell amount" option.

Automatic storage allocation on or off makes no difference, at either station end of the trade activity. I have set manual storage allocation in the Medical fab to 100,000 for each ware and trading contnues.

The sell Trade Rule on Habitat Supply is set to station default of Only Me (my faction) for all those wares, as is the Buy Trade Rule for the wares in the medical fab. Auomatic pricing is turned off and the price set to the minimum price at both ends.

Changing the Station Account amount of money makes no difference either. I have set that to 1,000,000 credits on both sides.

I am ignoring the fact that some of the wares show up as illegal to VIG. That turned out to be a "red herring". making me think this was the cause of the trading not happening. The automatic sell amount option seems to be the issue.

Once again thanks for looking at this.

Update to previous reply. Setting the storage allocation amount manually in the "supplying Station" (the Habitat Supply) DOES impact on the selling of wares, as this is what sets the auomatic sell amount value, which then in turn can makes that ware unavailable to sell. If you need to set storage amount manually then you also should turn off automatic sell amount and set the sell all but... amount to a lower value than the amount of storage allocated to the ware.

Getting to understand the interaction between the various settings much better now. Many thanks.
