Supernatural, ecchi KyoAni animes. They both start out pretty silly, but get more emotional for the last couple of episodes. The main characters couldn't be more different, but the arkward situations they get themselves into are similar. Setto is physically similar to Mai, but mentally similar to Koito, but Reina and Latifa aresimilar both physically and mentally.

Kids are exposed to something that gives them superpowers. One being more action oriented than the other while one has more drama. School setting for both, and the art is great for both as well.

No Game No Life addpermalink

This anime kind of reminds me of No Game No Life. Nice art and a "smart" protagonist living in a colorful fantasy world. If you're fine with a lot of ecchi and fan service with a nice plot and a cool idea, you will like this show.

Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari addpermalink

Both are action fantasy dramas with characters fighting the good fight against the forces of evil. Both will also trick you into thinking they are anything more than harem anime.

Somehow, this anime reminder me about this Kyoani show. To be blunt, the aspect that I could saw through it was the atmosphere: the light atmosphere of it caught me really bad to relate with the show of 2016. Alas, the monsters on it, kind of, got me too, still, the whole concept it's different, since Musaigen is more innocent and doesn't work that hard in the fanservice, but, it does have some too. Other thing that's worth it to mention is the animation- even if it doesn't reach the quality of Kyoto animation, the character design, at least, tries to be more relatable, however, &nbspread more

Both anime series are kinda lacking story wise, but really fun to watch because of their silly and colorful nature. Both have some pretty amazing art and similar characters. They are both mostly cheerful and silly with few serious moments.

Bakemonogatari addpermalink

I found Bakemonogatari to be similar to Musaigen no Phantom World in it's atmosphere. Both shows deal with phantoms/demons/ghost stories/mystery/fantasy lore. Bakemonogatari takes a much more serious tone with it's consistent story telling. Musaigen no Phantom World takes a more comedic route with each episode having it's own different story.

Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai addpermalink

both:deal with teen's problems and/or supernatural phenomena, but Musaigen has a more unique settinghave science references here and there, although in Seishun it's more pretentious and makes less sensesomehow have the same feeling, idkThe world-building and overall writing are better (more consistent) in Musaigen IMO.

Guilty Crown addpermalink

Both series take place in words where supernatural powers exist but can only be accessed by teenagers, in the case of Musaigen no Phantom World because of it being by birth after a certain event, and in the case of Guilty Crown because of only teens being compatible with the awakening tech. Both have a school setting with a romance plot that has harem vibes, althought Musaigen no Phantom World is more open about it than Guilty Crown, as the latter does have more stuff happen outside the school. Given that they were animated by Kyoto Animation for Musaigen no Phantom World and Production &nbspread more

At first this may seem completely unrealistic, mainly because Angel Beats is far superior, but hear me out for a couple minutes.-Both involve characters going back to confront their past to move on-Both involve high schoolers in a fantasy world-Both revolve around a group of friends-Both hint at romance

Phantoms are very popular in the field of anime nowadays. Last season, we watched how Yato, Hiyori and Yukine fought the Phantoms in the anime, "Noragami Aragoto". This season, another action-packed and interesting anime will display how teamwork and friendship able to annihilate the Phantoms that cause chaos in the world.

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! addpermalink

Both are KyoAni adaptations of light novels, the character designs and tone are very similar. In both the characters experience delusions in which they must defeat a force threatening their world and form a club to fight against it, these fights are very detailed with similar choreography in both. The major difference in Phantom World is that these delusions are real. Both series share seiyuu for the main heroines which are Maaya Uchida (Rikka/Koito) and Sumire Uesaka (Dekkomori/Mai).

Alien 9 addpermalink

Alien 9 is similar to Musaigen no Phantom World in it's main plot setting. In Alien 9 they are in a school club that fights aliens off their school grounds aided by Borg their alien helmets, Musaigen no Phantom World is also about a high school club that fights phantoms and use their special powers to their advantage. Though each show has a very different tone, Alien 9 is much darker and physiological whereas Musaigen no Phantom World is much more lighthearted.
